Sundays
I love Sundays. It's probably my favourite day of the week. I think as a naturally lazy person, this day is perfectly suited to me. It's why I love Saturday nights, not only because of the going out but the knowing that I have Sunday to sleep in. Yesterday Evs was back again after our long 2 week break. I think we're getting old because we rather spend our time hanging out rather than going out. He arrived at 9:30am - I had just gotten up about 15 mins before so when he rang our doorbell - I was still in my towel! I made my little brother go and open the door while I rushed to get dressed. My mother told me to go down and "look after him" until they came down so I ran downstairs half-dressed, with no makeup on and my hair wild and messy. And the first thing he did was give me a hug. Awww....gotta love a guy who doesn't notice these things and when he does still thinks you're the most beautiful thing he has seen. Then he proceeded to make me a cup of coffee and herded me away to get dressed properly.
My mother soon came down and then had to do the whole let's-whip-a-huge-breakfast-feast and by the time I came down there was a hot cup of coffee for me and some halwa (Indian sweet dish - very tasty) already made for me. While I had been getting ready my Dad had started talking to Evs about property and stocks and other mind-numbing things. Lol - Evs just listened and nodded politely. Hehe...once my Dad gets started on a topic it's pretty hard to get him to stop.
We then left and headed back to his place to chill for a while. Last time he had come down he had wanted to check out the Krispy Kreme and since he lived 10 mins away from the only store in Melbourne (!) we drove there - already anticipating the crowds and lines. And we were right, the lines for inside the store snaked all the way from inside the store to halfway around the block outside. The line for the 24-hr drive through was astounding - they had blocked off a section of the Fountain Gate Shopping Centre carpark just for the line to KK. Sigh...I hear they will be building another one at Chadstone Shopping Centre soon - I can't remember who told me but their father was part of the company who had won the contract to build the store in Chaddie. And someone was telling me (I think it was Ev's Dad) saying that the contract to open up the franchise is $AU6 million!!! My God....
We being the smart people we are decided we'd try back later, when the regular shopping crowd had left. There was a Harvey Norman store nearby (for those who don't know what HN is - just a huge department store - electrical, furniture, computers, bedding etc) and Evs wanted to show me the new webcam he had bought. Once I had seen it and commented on its coolness (it IS pretty cool) we walked around and checked out the furniture. It was a whole heap of fun as strange as that sounds, because not only was it fun to pretend that we were shopping for our house, but it was also interesting to see the similarities and difference in our taste. I think we agreed on a lot of the lounge suites and (leather and one with a comfy chaise - a must!) but our tastes in Manchester was a little more varied. Having worked in the Manchester department of Myers for a good while - I like to think I have the - expertise - lol, while my beloved is a little clueless. But he has his firm likes. I think we need a bit of work on that. It was funny to see the sales assistants approaching us and asking us to call them "when we were ready". LOL - perhaps we did look and acted the part of the newlywed couple, but it'll be a while yet before we start buying furniture.
KK was still packed so we headed home and took the dogs for a walk around the lake. I took Rif (his Jack Russel terrier) while Evs managed Kobe (his Labrador puppy). Kobe is huuuuuuuuge now - pretty much full grown. He was so gorgeous when he was 3 months old - always loved labradors and always have the urge to pet the Guide Dogs. He was so excited to be going for a walk that he was bounding everywhere, sniffing every bush, trying to play with Rif by pouncing on him. Rif was just interested in peeing everywhere. When I threw a mock tantrum when Evs deliberately pointed at the rainbow that was shining though (haven't you ever heard if you point at a rainbow it disappears??) Kobe jumped on me and either gave me a sloppy kiss or headbutted me.
We were in the mood for fast food rather than restaurant food, so grabbed some Nandos (love that stuff) and walked around Century City Walk a bit. There was a twilight market as well and I got my nails done - an Asian lady was offering $2 a nail to paint them and then with a weird machine print a small picture on the nails. Course my nails are horrible as they are (I'm a biter) and I felt so self conscious. That's it - gotta have a proper manicure soon. Another thing to add to my beauty makeover list. Afterwards, I was so stuffed from the Nandos that I couldn't even attempt to eat the Tim-Tam cheesecake we shared from Gloria Jeans. But God it was good......Mmmm Cheesecake
The footy was on and we decided to go for a drive as it was freezing outside, and since Evs is an avid Essendon fan (they have had a 21-losing streak this season...tsk tsk) he was too focused to really talk. We parked at a park near my house, and moved to the backseat to get more comfortable. Now, there was nothing sordid about that, we had the radio up and were just listening to the footy and talking. All of a sudden we saw some bright lights of a car come up behind us and pass us by. The car slowed down as it passed our car and we were given the fright of our lives as we realised it was the cops! They didn't stop or anything, but peered in and after they drove away, we just felt so nervous. Not that we were doing anything wrong but what if, say, we were making out or something - I'd be so embarrassed! The night ended pretty quickly afterwards, and he came back to my place for a coffee and a bit of chat. When he left with promises of messages and phone calls, I trudged upstairs and looked forward to my Sunday.
